A campaign group is attempting to overturn the democratic decision of 900 women who use Kenwood Ladies Pond. The City of London consultation closes November 25th. It’s vital that supportive voices are heard.
The Kenwood Ladies Pond Association has nearly 900 members who voted in 2024 to maintain their trans+ inclusive membership policy by a large majority. This policy has been in place since 2019, enabling trans+ women to swim peacefully alongside other women for years without incident.
Now, a campaign group known for opposing trans+ rights has filed a judicial review challenging this decision. They claim to represent women’s interests, yet they are seeking to overturn the democratic vote of the actual women who use the pond.
This is precisely why NION Women exists.
The anti-trans minority does not speak for us
When news involving the trans+ community is reported, women are too often represented by a vocal minority with a clear agenda to remove trans+ people from our daily lives. This creates a false narrative that pits women against trans+ women, when the reality is that many of us actively support trans+ inclusion.
The situation at Kenwood Ladies Pond demonstrates this disconnect perfectly. The women who actually use the pond voted to keep it trans+ inclusive. Yet an external campaign group claims this decision is against women’s interests.
We reject this characterisation entirely. This isn’t a new or experimental policy, trans+ women have used these facilities for years. There is no crisis here except the one being manufactured by those who want to roll back rights that trans+ people have held for years without issue.
Your voice matters: Take action before November 25th
The City of London is currently running a consultation on the bathing ponds. It’s crucial that women who support trans+ inclusion make their voices heard.

This is why our goal of reaching 100,000 signatures by Christmas matters. Decision-makers need to understand that trans+ supportive women are a significant stakeholder group, and we need to demonstrate the scale of support for trans+ people’s dignity and rights.
Our letter has gathered over 60,000 signatures in just five months. Tens of thousands of women saying these campaign groups don’t speak for us.
What we stand for
We support trans+ people’s rights and dignity. We believe inclusive policies can coexist with women’s rights. We know that the challenges women face such as violence and economic inequality, have nothing to do with trans+ people.
Groups that seek to exclude this minority community do not represent us or the tens of thousands of women who have signed our letter.
Take action now:
Let’s ensure that the voices of women who support trans+ inclusion are heard loud and clear.
